Prepare the device and accessories
Turn the monitor off and disconnect it according to its instructions. Photograph connections if useful. Remove its stand or mount only as directed and collect screws in a labelled bag. Keep cables and heavy power adapters separate so they cannot strike the screen. Avoid an improvised deep clean immediately before packing; a dry, clean surface is more useful than using an unsuitable product in a hurry.
Keep pressure off the screen
Use a clean, non-abrasive protective layer and packaging designed to carry loads through suitable parts of the housing. Nothing should press on the centre of the display. Loose cardboard placed against the screen is not an engineered pressure barrier. Curved and particularly thin monitors especially need properly fitting protection. If suitable inserts are unavailable, ask the manufacturer or transport provider rather than randomly filling spaces with hard objects.
Control movement inside the box
The monitor must not slide around the outer carton or strike its connectors against a wall. Cushioning should restrain it without twisting the housing. Allow enough space for protection but avoid a box so large that securing the device becomes difficult. Mark the intended orientation in accordance with the manufacturer's guidance. Carry the closed package steadily and do not stack other belongings against its vulnerable surfaces during transport.
Unpack on a prepared surface
Clear a suitable area before lifting the device out. Refit the stand according to the instructions and check that all fastenings are correctly seated. Search the cushioning for small components before discarding it. Follow the manufacturer's advice about temperature changes and possible moisture before switching on. A monitor that appears dry externally is not automatically ready for immediate use after unsuitable transport conditions.
